Westminster Night Time Citizens Assembly
The project involves working with the team at Westminster City Council, business improvement districts and community groups to design and faciliate a citizens assembly that ensures all views are considered in development of the city’s evening and night time economy.
Guest speakers from other major international cities share their best practice to help develop a vision for Westminster at night.
Ask for Angela
Our team helps to design projects and training to reduce vulnerability in public spaces, providing staff with the skills to spot people in vulnerable situations and know how to help them.
The Ask for Angela scheme started in the United Kingdom and is now gaining international recognition as best practice for supporting vulnerable people.
Greater London Authority
We were part of the team that supported the GLA and London Night Tsar to help London Boroughs deliver new initiatives that support local businesses through an improved approach to licensing.
Examples of projects included range from new online application processes for licensing and market trading to developing an ethical food delivery business with lower fees than the big players.
Westminster Night Safety
We helped to design and create an accreditation scheme for businesses open in the evening and at night in Westminster UK to promote best practice standards and increase safety for the public.
The Night Safe Accreditation examines all aspects of the business operations from staff training to policies and procedures that safeguard people at risk of vulnerability.
Nottingham Night Safety
The project analysed crime and antisocial behaviour data, policies and public perceptions to develop a costed and prioritised plan of recommendations for improving public safety in the evening and night time for the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
A wide variety of stakeholders were consulted and observational field work carried out to help inform the report.
Colchester Leisure Recovery
Our team worked with leisure sector businesses and other stakeholders to design a post pandemic recovery strategy and action plan, and helped to secure funding to enable delivery including from central government.
Projects delivered included vulnerability training, a customised Ask for Angela scheme, and a business crime reduction online portal.
English Riviera Geopark Pandemic Recovery
We supported local businesses and cultural organisations in the English Riviera to adapt to pandemic impacts.
Supporting assets we created included a podcast series featuring GeoExperts and cultural ambassadors, access advice for people with disabilities and a social media campaign to bring the past and present offer of the Geopark to life.
UNESCO Global Geoparks
We worked with UNESCO and over 150 Geoparks from across continental networks, their local stakeholders and the global public to inform a brand strategy for promoting sustainable tourism and science education with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals at the heart.
The final report and action plan provides the framework to promote the Global Geoparks Network 20th Anniversary in 2024.
Nottingham Event Team
We created in innovative ‘subvention’ model to address market failure by attracting major conferences and events to the city of Nottingham.
The project involved original thinking and working with local, national and international stakeholders and funders to create a project that delivered economic impact and jobs by improving hotel occupancy and driving custom to local leisure and retail sector businesses.
Our Founder
David Randall is the driving force behind Kester Consulting. David has over 30 years experience of driving forward projects, built from the ground up, that serve to better society through positive economic and community impacts.
With a background in destination management and economic development, his work has taken David all over the world, working with a diverse range of people and cultures. He draws on a wide range of associate colleagues to bring the skills needed to each project.
